A Peek into Her Charming Defender

Did Landon meet the woman of his dreams?

Did he fall in love at first sight at Barb And Mark’s wedding?

He wanted to ask her name, but he would have to admit he was a Hawthorne. And he wouldn’t know if him or his bank account attracted her.

The band finally played a ballad. Someone tripped and pushed her toward him. His partner steadied herself, resting a hand on his shoulder.

She whispered. “Sorry. I’m not trying to hit on you.”

Heat seeped through his suit coat and shirt. He wished she’d reached for his shoulder because she couldn’t help herself. His arms ached to embrace her, but Landon didn’t want to overreact and make a bad impression.

Could he have found her? The right woman? But who fell in love with someone they just met? He would be a fool not to give it a chance.

As the song ended, she glanced at the door. Someone appeared to be waving at her, but he could not see who. “My ride’s leaving…

He reached for her hand and squeezed it, signaling he hoped to see her again.

She took a few steps and looked over her shoulder. “I had a great time with you.”

Was she as sorry as he felt?  At least Cinderella left behind a shoe. What if she was Barb’s friend? She would head home to another state in the morning. Could he be that unlucky?

When you start with someone meeting their perfect partner, where can the story go?

Both families try to discourage a romantic entanglement. Problem-solving Landon has to convince everyone they belong together.
