Creating Magic

Seth Godin is a guru at marketing.

“People do not buy goods and services. They buy relations, stories and magic.”

In the quote, he is talking about all marketers. From food brands to cars. Have a story that appeals to your customers. Think of how often brands appeal to you. The luxury car—need I say more? Making family memories on certain vacations. Even feed your family healthy meals on a budget.

The quote applies to writers as well. We hope to connect with our readers and social media followers. And if we do it right, readers enjoy our books and relate to the characters.

Some of my favorite scenes were never planned. They call it intuitive or discovery writing. I will be typing as usual and a great idea comes out of the blue. I call that magic.

As a reader, I love a book that surprises me. And also makes me laugh and cry. The bonus is feeling satisfied at the end of the story.

This year, one of my goals is finding ways to get to know customers better (readers and social media followers). And continue to write the best book I can.
